Michel Haché L'arche Mi'kmaq Mother
  • Michel Haché, or L'arche, is thought to have been the son of Pierre L'arche, originally from the partish of St. Pierre in the town of Montdidier, in Picardie, France. This Pierre L'arche had married Adrienne Langlis and was employed in the Cape Breton fisheries by the Denys brothers about 1650. Apparently in Acadia, Pierre L'arche had contracted an alliance with an Indian woman, and Michel was the product of their union. After his father's death, Michel was committed to the care of Nicolas Deny's son-in-law Michel LeNeuf, who later became Seigneur of Beaubassin. Michel Hache was sent to Trois-Rivieres to be raised by LeNeuf's parents. He was baptised at the age of eight years, Apr. 24, 1668. About 1676, Michel LeNeuf brought Michel Haché to Beau Bassin, where the latter married Anne Cormier, daughter of Thomas Cormier and Madeleine Girourd about 1690.
