PATIENCEC4 GOODWIN (5. MargaretC3 Spencer, Patience2 William1), born in the Newichawanock area of Kittery (now S Berwick) 23 Mar 1653 (Seaman, "Daniel Goodwin" ms, 271); died Berwick between 18 Feb 1715/6 when she made her will and 4 Apr 1716 when it was proved (MW, 183); married Kittery 19 Sep 1670 (VR, 24) DANIEL STONE, born circa 1643, died between 13 Dec 1712 when he wrote his will and 15 Oct 1713 when it was proved (MW, 167-168; MPA 2/99,114). Daniel's name may originally been "Wadelsten", as seen in the 1672 George Broughton court case (LND, 663-4).

1715/16 Will of Patience Stone

            In the Name of God Amen I Patience Stone of the Town of Barwick in the County of Yorke in his Majts Province of the MasachuSetts Bay in New England widow (and Relict of Daniel Stone late of Barwick aforeSaid) being weak & ailing but of Sound & disposing Sence & memory, blessed be God for it Do make this my Last will & Testament.

            First & principally I resign my Soul to God that gave it hopeing through the merits of my blessed Lord & Saviour Jusus Christ to obtain Pardon of all my Sins, and my body I Commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of the Executor to this my Last Will & Testament & as for this worldly Goods the Lord hath Lent me; after my Lawfull Debts & funerall Charge is paid I give & bestow as Followeth.

            1. I give & bequeath unto my Son Daniel Stone a pair of Stilliards and one flax Comb.

            2. I give & bequeath unto my daughter Rachael Grant one pewter platter.

            3. I give & bequeath unto my daughter Patience Waymouth one pewter platter.

            4. I give & bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Libby one pewter platter.

            5. I give & bequeath unto my daughter Abigail Goodin one pewter platter & two plates.

            6. I give & bequeath unto my daughter Elisabeth Stone one pewter platter & one Bason & my great Iron pott & two pewter plates.

            7. I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Leah Stone one pewter platter & one Chafindish & two pewter plates & my middlein Iron pott.

            8. I do give & bequeath unto my two aforeSaid daughters Elisabeth & Leah my two fetherbeds & all the furniture belonging to them both, & all my bed Cloths of every Sort both wooling & Linnin & all my wearing Cloths both wooling & Linnin or any other Sort & also my warming pan & Table Linnin to equally divided betwene them both.

            9. I give & bequeath unto my Eight daughters to the Six herein already named and to my daughter Mary martin & Margret Gould all the rest of my Estate Good or Chattels Rights & Credits & utenSels whatsoever without dores or within abroad or at home to be Equally divided amongst them all

            10. I do ordain & appoint my Brother Daniel Goodin to be the Executor to this my Last Will & Testament Renouncing & Revoaking all or any Will or Wills by me heretofore made or Suffered to be made; In Witness hereof I the afore Said Patience Stone have hereunto Set my hand & Seal this Eighteenth day of February anno Dom: one ThouSand Seven Hundred & fifteen Sixteen 1715/16

            iii.            MARGARET, b Kittery 6 Oct 1678; d after 1715 when she and Samuel of Boxford deeded 1/11 of her father's estate (LND, 278); m Topsfield MA 1697 SAMUEL GOULD, living Apr 1726 (YD 12:15). At least one child, surname Gould: 1. Samuel (LND, 278).

            iv.            RACHEL, b Kittery 13 July 1680, bpt 25 Apr 1703; m as his second wife before 1709 JAMES GRANT, b 23 Mar 1671 (LND, 282), on 3 Nov 1735 he owned the covenant and was bpt in bed "being at the point of death" (ibid) but admin not granted until 20 Oct 1741 (MPA 5/255; 6/8, 51, 55), son of Peter and Joan Grant. James, a carpenter of Berwick, had 5 children with his first wife (Mary Nason) between 1694 and 1703. Children with Rachel (William D Grant, From Kittery to Kansas, 1979), surname Grant: 1. Daniel, b 1709. 2. Elias, bpt 9 June 1712 (NEHGR 82:75), owned the covenant 1735 (NEHGR [1928]:98), m by 1735 Margaret5 Goodwin (see #23.ix), 5 ch. 3. John, b 1715. 4. Rachel, b 1717. 5.             v.            PATIENCE, b Kittery 23 Mar 1683; d before 4 Oct 1731 when her admin was granted (MPA 5/76, 154); m (LND, 741) TIMOTHY WEYMOUTH, d when he was thrown from his horse and killed (ibid), son of Edward and Esther (Hodsdon) Weymouth. Children, (KVR, 51), surname Weymouth: 1. Rachel, b 10 Aug 1705 (mother called Rachel must be error), may have m 15 Oct 1727 (KVR, 55) Isaac Powers. 2. Ichabod, b 23 Nov 1707. 3. Shadrich, b 4 Jan 1709/10. 4. Patience, b 10 Mar 1711/2, m bef 1739 (son's birth) Robert Morrell, son of Nicholas and Sarah (Fry) Morrell (Weymouth Gen), at least 2 sons who lived to adulthood. 5. Sarah, b 27 Aug 1714. 6. Timothy, b 22 May 1719, (MPA 11/354). 7. Jonathan, b 16 June 1722, predeceased his mother, who admin his estate (MPA 6/205,266, 7/14A). 8.             vi.            SARAH, b Kittery 23 Aug 1686; d Mar 1774, age 88; m (Charles T Libby, The Libby Family in America, 1882, 39) 20 Dec 1707 (WFT v1) Deacon BENJAMIN2 LIBBY, b 4 June 1682, d 9 Nov 1768, son of John 1 and Agnes Libby. Benjamin and Sarah lived on the Witchtrot Rd and were very active in Berwick town affairs. From 7 Oct 1716 they were members of the Congregational Church, where he was deacon until 25 June 1761. He was one of the original proprietors of Lebanon ME. Children (Libby), named in Benjamin's will (MPA 12/59), surname Libby: 1. Agnes, b 24 May 1709, m _____ Clark. 2.             ix.            ELIZABETH, b Kittery 13 May 1694; m 16 Nov 1720 NATHANIEL SMITH, b 15 Sep 1695, d 6 Aug 1757, son of Nicholas and Mary (Gordon) Smith. His will, of Kingston, 12 June 1753 (LND, 646). Seven children, surname Smith.

            x.            LEAH, b Kittery 31 Dec 1698; m1 18 Dec 1718 as his second wife (BVR, 112) RICHARD RANDALL of Berwick (LND, 576), admin granted 25 Oct 1723 to Leah, son of Richard of Dover; m2? Berwick 3 Jan 1724/5 (BVR, 112) JAMES EVANS. Richard m1 (July 1715) Sarah Gare (MPA 3/155, 5/47,68). Children, surname Randall: 1. Richard, d by 1737. 2. John, not heard from in 5 yrs (1737). 3. Elizabeth, only heir, m Abner Clements (perhaps one or more of these children were from his first marriage).
