This pioneer sailed to Canada before 1657 because his childhood friend Charles LeFrancois (another ancestor) left France to join Romain in Beaupre, Québec. On 19 Sep 1657 Charles was witness to a wedding contract of Pierre Tremblay and Ozanne Achon.
In the 1667 Beaupre census, Romain and Genevieve's ages are not listed. They are recorded with seven children in 1681 census. He owned 1 gun, 13 horned animals and 14 arpents of land value. The "De" was dropped from his name and he was 55. His wife's name was spelt without the "u" as in Droin and she was 38.
