1     1   EDMUND LITTLEFIELD, bp. June 27, 1592, Titchfield, County Hants, England; d. December 11, 1661, Wells, Me., m. Agnes Austin (also called Anne or Annis), October 16, 1614, Titchfield.  She was probably bp. in February, 1596-97, dau. of Richard Austin of Titchfield, and died 1678.  Edmund Littlefield came from Titchfield in 1637, settled in Exeter, N.H. and later moved to Wells.  He was one of the original settlers of Wells, and probably built the first house there.  In 1641 he built a saw mill and a grist mill on the Webhannet River.  He was agent of Thomas Gorges to give possession of house lots to settlers, and was one of the committee for settling the boundary between Wells and Cape Porpois, and a Commissioner to try small causes from 1654 to 1661.

2    4 FRANCIS LITTLEFIELD, bp. June 17, 1619, Titchfield, England; d. 1712, Wells, Me., m. Jane Hill, dau. of Ralph Hill of Plymouth, Woburn and Billerica.  She d. December 20, 1646, Woburn.  He m. 2d, Rebecca _________ abt. 1648.  She was living as late as 1683.  Francis Littlefield, at an early age disappeared from his father's house, and was mourned for as dead, and the last child born to his father was also given the name of Francis.  How the first Francis came to America is not known, but he was in Exeter, N.H., in 1639, and  must have met his father at that time, for they were both members of the Wheelwright Combination, and had land assigned to them at that time.  Frome Exeter, Francis went to Woburn, where he was taxed in 1646.  He moved to Dover, which he represented in the Legislature in 1648, and moved to Wells after 1650.  He was a Representative of York in 1660, and of Wells in 1665, and 1676.  The General Court held sessions at his house.
(Note from Submitter of this story, Dee Estrella: The part above about Francis disappearing from his father' home for reason unknown and being mourned for dead, was later written about by D.G. Weymouth,  and he felt there was no historical basis for this.  He thinks it stems from the fact that there were two sons in this family named Francis Littlefield (now designated as "the elder" and "the younger"), which caused confusion to historians.  D.G.Weymouth's research is also entered as "a story" under Edmund Littlefield and you may read further about that.)
