Andrew's parents are Thomas and Catherine (Whiting) Wiggin of England. He was born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England and she in London, England. They were prominent citizens. Thomas and his family are buried at the site of their homestead. The gravestones are gone, but the grave is marked by a boulder.
In the days of yore Andrew's birthplace was called Dover Neck. He died at Squamscot/ Swampscot, Essex co, MA - now Stratham, Rockingham co, NH.
Andrew Wiggin, Exeter, son of Thomas of Dover, married at Andover, June 3rd, but other reports claim the 14th, 1659. The same records that has June 3rd for her marriage, gives the marriage of her sister Dorothy June 14th. Hannah is the daughter of Honorable Simon Bradstreet. He and Hannah had Thomas, born March 5, 1661; Simon, April 17, 1664; Hannah, August 10, 1666; Mary, 1668; Sarah; Jonathan; Andrew, January 6, 1672; and Bradstreet; beside two other daughters. Their names are thought to have been Abigail, and Dorothy. Andrew Wiggin Sr, died January 9, 1710. >Savage, v4, pp539-540.
In the Greenwood Cemetery there is a prominent obelisk in the center of the lot, erected by Andrew Wiggin, 1826-1888, on one face of which is the following inscription:
Hon. Andrew Wiggin 1635-1710 Son of Gov Thomas Wiggin and sole owner of all the land called Quamscutt; now comprising the town of Stratham Erected by his descendant Andrew Wiggin 1886
Mr Andrew Wiggin Sen: of Quampscut was seased with a numbness or stupification; whereby half his body was mortified and remained so for many years.
